Guys, helping out a buddy. he got a RWRP pickup to use on the neck. The other two pickups are standard.
Bridge - normal wind Middle - RWRP
On this new pick-up for the neck position - can I simply switch the tow lead wires and it would function normally without phase issues? Or am I gonna have problems wit the RP part of this?
Thanks Ange

Yes. Switching the wires without switching the magnets will put it out of phase with the other two.
But not a problem. Designating a pickup as "RWRP" with respect to some supposed "normal" is wholly arbitrary. For hum-cancelling purposes, it matters only that, for 3 pickups, you have 2 of one type and 1 of the other type.
Which you have. And, back in the day, all 3 Strat pickups in a set were the same, resistance-wise. Gradually, people began to introduce "hotter" bridge pickups, but the difference is usually quite small. If it's a "vintage" set, there may not be any difference at all.
So, I'd say measure the resistance of the mid and bridge with an eye towards swapping their positions around, assuming the difference in resistance isn't too great. Also bear in mind that ±10% is within normal variation anyway.
If they're close, putting the bridge pup in the middle position will then yield the regular Strat hum-cancelling at positions 2 and 4.
Or, if the N + B setting was part of the game plan here, leave the bridge pickup where it is now, so as to make N+B and B+M hum-cancelling (and sacrificing the hum-cancelling on the N+M).
