This is my first project guitar. My brother said that he was given a gutted out guitar and said he want going to do any thing with it, so he offered it to me. I gladly took it off his hands. So then he dropped it off and I said to my self "what did I get my self into?" This thing was only wood lol. I'm always up to a challenge. The guitar is an ltd esp viper 100, nothing fancy. It's already looks like it's been painted with primer. I pretty sure I can handle the fun of a guitar project. I do have one question, I can follow instructions on how to wire the pickups, but is there a way to really screw this up where some one can get electrocuted whole playing the guitar?

The chance of something to o with guitar wiring causing electrocution is pretty close to impossible, usually any cases of electrocution are through the use of old/dodgy amplifiers or equally old and dodgy wiring in a club.
If you want an extra safety barrier for peice of mind, you can use a capacitor between the ground, and the tremolo instead of a wire, this reduces any possibly lethal voltages, to an ow. I think there is more info on this on the original guitarnuts site (or in one of our more experienced guys brains)
The only problem I could see, is if you try to power EMG's with 230v AC Mains current

Have you any idea what colour you want, If not, can I remind you that a white SG is the most awesome sight ever.

I was thinking a more custom type paint job like the nose art of a ww2 bomber

Not possible for you to commit some wiring error which would cause electrocution, unless, as yew suggests, you somehow introduce the mains current into the guitar. (Which would not come under the heading of "following instructions" in any event . . .)
Your pickups generate mere fractions of any voltage that you could ever feel, much less be injurious to you.
This is basically an SG, right? So you can use any SG-style wiring diagram, unless additional Nutziness is contemplated. If it is, we're here to help!
The "Blocking Capacitor" which yew mentions does provide some measure of protection if one plays in dodgy venues and/or wishes to use vintage tube amps.
If you use only SS amps, or more modern tube amps, and if you check the polarity of the outlets you use, the risk of electrocution approaches nil. To be perfectly safe, use a wireless system. But these risks are (largely) independent of the wiring of the guitar in any event.

Update: i have absolutely have not done a thing to this guitar. I thought a bout putting the neck on another guitar but it wouldnt look right. If any one wants it you can have it, my only request is that post you progress here so we can all see. Of course i dont want to pay to ship it. I also have not given any thing away on line like this before, so i dont know how this works. I live in San Antonio Texas so if any one is interested just IM me. First come first serve. Its just taking up space at the moment.
