1-directional Cavity Shielding - any use?

I have a guitar with two humbuckers. I wonder if it's worth shielding and grounding the pickup cavities. I realise this doesn't enclose the pickup and therefore doesn't truly shield it but would it offer any kind of 1-directional benefit?

I guess the question is, do you need a "Faraday cage" type of enclosure or are you deflecting/absorbing electromagnetic radiation using shielding?

Not sure. If you have covered humbuckers, then the whole cover gets grounded and any further shielding is irelevant. If they are open Hb's, then at least he back plate would usually be grounded, so again the cavity shielding would likely be of limited benefit.

Why dont you investigate for the sake of science? Press some kitchen foil into the cavity and place the pickup in there, and connect to amp. Then see if grounding that foil does something.
