So, it would seem that I am a complete screw up.
I managed to ruin this tele project on my very first task. I have managed to drill the pickguard holes too big. The screws run down but don't bite- I can just push them in there.
Any ideas on how to fix this without getting a new body?

You could glue a toothpick into each hole, that should "tighten" them up enough to get some bite...
Or you could buy a set of screws just slightly larger than your current set...

I just read about the toothpick idea - they mentioned that wood glue was not required ... would you use the glue or not?
I think larger screws would be easier ... where would I get them from? Hardware stores around here tend to only stock ugly, unfinished screws (but I will look).
Also - thanks! I am was having something of a nasty panic attack at this little problem.
edit: It's a 3mm hole

3mm!!! Yes, more like a match stick for a whole that big and use wood glue and wipe off...just enough... Here I am filling some small holes from a different type of tuner that did not need them. Cut them off with a sharp knife with care...tip, match sticks are a lighter wood and easier to cut I thik here I am using sharpened ice pop sticks I suspect... Double/triple check everything, take your time and don't panic or be afraid to ask a little advice, it is all learning experience right!

Yeah - that sounds awesome! I'll get some wood glue this weekend!
3mm ... very large. I have no idea what I was thinking ... but thanks - I think I can salvage this!

Everything 4r said! ....with the added thought that you could consider doing all that through pieces of masking tape so that you can prevent excess glue and other nasties getting on the face of your guitar.. given that the holes are going to be VERY near the edge of your pickguard, and will not give you much room for (further! ) error... not that any of us have too many errors.. Good luck from Sowdsdraya.. Oh, and another thing... When I drill pilot holes for screws that size, I use (ok, courtesy of a jewellery workshop inbuilt in my life) a small bit about 1.2mm or so in a hand-chuck, and only drill deep enough to provide a clearance hole for the top 3mm or so of the screw..letting its tapered end cut its own thread into the wood beneath that....never had anything split, or the screw holes strip...

I actually got out a smaller drill but managed to pickup the one I had discarded as being too big, somehow. I tried the toothpick thing and, without glue, it holds pretty well. It'll do
