Folks- Have enjoyed GN1 and GN2 for some time and am now preparing to build my first parts gtr this fall-
I am pretty familiar with the 'retrofit' shielding for strats discussed in GN1, but considering I am doing this from scratch with a different design, I wanted to make sure I had applied the principles I had learned by developing a checklist for my new construction-
Would a few of you look this over and see if I've got the details and order correct and let me know if I need to add anything?
Goal- Shield electronics and create as few ground loops as possible while wiring a new p90, dual rail, p90 guitar (no pickgaurd)-
1. Line body cavity with copper foil
2. Insure that all pots and controls make direct contact with foil. (Assuming that this grounds all pots/controls and that I do not need a separate negative lead as described in next step?)
3. Ground bridge and all negative runs (including output jack?) directly to a single point and solder to the shielding foil to avoid multiple ground paths.
4. Shield cavity cover with copper and confirm that it makes full contact with shielding within cavity.
