(Moved from General Schematics by sumgai)I have been browsing the wiring thread and I have found a ton of great info and a lot of diagrams that almost do what I am looking for. Maybe someone here can help me get the rest of the way. I have an old charvel similar to this one (1 Bridge Humbucker, 2 Single Coils) I love this guitar to death except for the pickup switching. They use three mini toggles. It used to have active electronics with one volume, one tone, one mid control. I have replaced the pickups and want to do away with the three toggles and use a rotary switch instead. I also do not use the tone control, I just never have and the only thing it does is piss me off when it gets bumped lol! I only have a few must-haves; first to have Humbucker in position 1, and neck single coil in position 6. Second, to use the other positions for "Strat like" sounds. I like the quacky sound on strats. I am not sure technically what does this (in phase, out of phase, series-paralell etc...) I think a split coil for position two would be nice too. I will probably wire in one of the mini toggles before the output jack as I like to have a kill switch. The other toggles will probably just do nothing as will the second pot, I just want one volume. The third pot is where I will put the rotary switch. Anyone have any suggestions for the 6position, 4pole rotary switch in doing what I want?

toobhed-
It sounds like you already have a pretty good handle on what you want. Consider that a 4 pole rotary switch is pretty much just like a 4-pole Superswitch coiled up around itself. So, you can take any diagram that uses a Superswitch and adapt it to what you want.
Of course, the Superswitch is only 5 positions, and you're talking 6- but that 6th position is accounted for by the fact that you want full HB at position 1 and split coil at 2- which then leaves positions 3-6 for the rest of the regular Strat-ish tones- Bridge SC + mid, mid, mid+ neck, and neck.
I'm pretty sure that we have something using a Superswitch that would be similar, except for the split coil. If not, we can draw something up for you, although that may take a few days.
The rest of it is easy enough- a master volume and a kill switch.
The quacky sounds you like on Strats are just the parallel interaction of the neck + mid (at position 4 on the typical Strat) and bridge + mid at position 2. You won't get the same thing exactly with a bridge HB split to SC, but it will be close. Pickup type and positioning also play a role in the "quack".

Thanks for the info. That is some of what i was interested in; what pickup combos and if they are parallel etc. i have wired up 2H guitars with three way switches and various volume and tone controls but this switch is more complicated than what i am used to. I will look for a diagram with the super switch and see if i can draw up my diagram and post it for review. I get the concept, i am just not that great at this stuff. Thanks for the help.

If this scheme doesn't involve any series wiring, you are really just looking at the standard Strat positions for a HSS Strat, plus a split coil position.
So, if you haven't already bought a 4-pole rotary switch, we should get a diagram done first, because it seems to me that this can be done with only a 3-pole rotary (and possibly with only 2 poles, I'd have to look at that).
Either way, if a 4-pole rotary isn't needed you can save yourself a bit of money and potentially avoid some fitment issues that might arise with the bigger switch. You'd also have more selection of switches.
I'm assuming you'd want the 3rd position to be mid + bridge SC, to simulate the Strat M + B setting. So, going around your rotary, you'd have:
1) Bridge HB 2) Bridge SC 3) Bridge SC + Mid 4) Mid 5) Mid + Neck 6) Neck
You might also consider using one of the extra holes for another toggle switch. A DPDT toggle could be used as a series/parallel switch for one of the single coils, or for a neck on/off switch, so you can get the Tele-ish N + Br (SC).

Yeah, you only need two poles. Here's a diagram, with a single volume control and a kill switch. no tone pot, and the 6 rotary positions are as per the above list. I noticed afterward that I reversed the numbering scheme ("1" should be "6", "2" is ""5", etc.) But I think you can figure it out, you're probably going to have to check the actual switch poles anyway, as your rotary may differ from my drawing: You will have to correlate your wire colors to the diagram, and also see which coil of the bridge HB you want to split, the wiring may change if you need the other coil for the split coil position. (As diagrammed, it will split to the "bottom" coil in the series stack).
