Hey fellas, I've been into experimenting with Hi Pass Filters on guitars the past few years, like the Bass Cut control found in G&L's PTB system.
The dilemma has been finding a full sized, split shaft, 1 Meg reverse log pot. (From my many attempts, IMO it's got to be a reverse audio taper to work well in the proper direction) The closest stock item I've found was a mini pot from Tayda Electronics. They work fine and are cheap, but they don't fit perfectly in a USA style guitar or have true solder lugs.
Finally, last night I had good success combining two CTS pots: a solid shaft, 3 Meg reverse audio pot (used in amplifiers for tremolo speed, I believe) and a spare full-size split shaft pot I had laying around. The 3 Meg value served as the innards and the shaft and casing I took from the extra pot.
And presto! Works like a charm! The guitar owner was very happy and so am I, to have finally found a workable solution after much searching.
To whom it may concern, I got the 3 Meg RA pot from Mojotone - I believe it's found in their amp parts section.

OYT-
Sorry, but I had to move your thread as it didn't belong in "Design Modules", which is for schematics/diagrams only.
Reworking pots is a daunting task, but apparently easier than it seems. I've been reluctant to try working on pots due to fear of destroying them, but JohnH reports success in making his own no-load pots, and now you've had success replacing the entire innards, so maybe I'm being unnecessarily cautious.

Thanks for the forum move - I was afraid I was going to do that on my iPhone. Glad you caught it. Yeah, I've never made a no-load, but I'm sure I will try at some point. I've got more pots lying around than a plant nursery, so I'm never afraid of screwing one up in the name of learning. Plus, they're relatively cheap anyhow.
