I am in the planning stages of a strat-style guitar build and would appreciate comments on pickup switching configurations. The pickup selection is based on several things. Mostly, I have a couple of pickups lying around that I want to put to use and I am also interested in trying out one of the Seymour Duncan P-rails pickups.
The pickups I have are a SD SH-12 screamin demon and an early Don Lace pickup that I found on a clearance table when a local shop was going out of business. I really like the sound of P90s, so it seems that the P-rails might be an interesting pickup to have on hand.
Without getting too complicated with all kinds of crazy switching, there are still many combinations that might be fun. If you have any experience with similar combinations, I would appreciate input. Below is a first cut of my thoughts on how to set up the pickups without getting overly complex. The SH-12 will be at the bridge, the Lace in the middle and the P-rail at the neck.
I think this can be done without the switching getting insane, but your comments on that would be helpful too. The first set of five positions will resemble a standard strat style pickup selection, except that last position will be the solo P-90 coil of the P-rail. The second set of five positions are all humbucker tones of sort.
Having never used pups like these in combination, I would appreciate any and all thoughts. Also, if you have wired up a HSH arrangement in a similar manner, your switching circuit would certainly shortcut things.

Cool Sumgai! Thanks for the link. I did some searching but somehow missed that one. Looks like a great starting point.
The P-rail looks like a cool pup to me and I am interested in figuring out how to take best advantage of it. And of course with the Lace lying around collecting dust (paid $7.50 for it new!) it has to go into a guitar - as does the SH12 that I took out of another guitar that is also collecting dust (sounded pretty muddy on that guitar, but I'm willing to give it another chance).
Any thoughts on how these combinations might work out. I never used a Lace (or the P-rails) so this is another experiment, but any thoughts on how these guys combine up with normal HBs or split HBs would be interesting.
Oh yea, and my above drawing is without regard for polarity at this point, but I'll work that out.

Uh....yea.... I was just testing you!!!
Text is correct as is the legend on the drawing, but seem I did draw it upside down! I guess I was focused on creating pup templates more than the drawings. Thanks for keeping me honest! i'll correct it and re-post soon.
The Lace is an early one - model N150. I can't find much info on it. Resistance measures 7.2K. Don't know how hot that is for a Lace or how it compares with current production devices. Anyone know more about it?
