after having some success doing my first wiring mod, (adding both pickups in series on my squire j mascis jazz master) i may have got a little too ambitious with my next modification. Trying to add a middle pickup and ptb tone control, i've obviously done something wrong as it does not work as expected. i put it aside for a little while to try and figure out where i went wrong and i've come up with a new diagram which i think should work. it's based of the ultra start wiring found here www.1728.org/guitar2a.htm (without the phase switch for the moment) with a ptb tone control and the stock jazz master rhythm circuit functionality. so i've drawn it up and am hoping someone could take a look at it and tell me if it makes sense or not. i know it's not pretty but i tried to make it as clear as i could. my proposed diagram is here imgur.com/ioQSUTl i really appreciate any help. I'm anxious to have this guitar back in working order.
I'm having trouble tracing all that out, but it looks to me like your 4PDT series/parallel switch isn't playing well with your On/Off switches. At the mid pickup, the series setting grounds the pickup to itself in the "off" position, but this will then ground the rest of the "series chain", killing all output.
At least, that's what it looks like to me. Let's get some more eyes on it.
I don't know if you had seen this scheme, which JohnH developed for the Brian May Guitar, so as to add parallel settings to the Brain May Guitar which is ordinarily wired only in series. I didn't look at yours to specifically see if it was exactly like John's, but it ought to be. John's has been built and works, and the only difference is that yours omits the phase switches.

thanks for replying, i know the diagram is hard to read, i was trying to draw it out just as it would look like on the back of the pickgaurd as i was wiring it, but i don't think that really helps to make it clear. i hadn't gone through the series/parallel and on/off switches much, partly because i'm not totally confident in my own ability to catch any mistakes and partly because i tried to copy it from here www.1728.org/guitar2a.htm and i assumed that was all correct. it is very possible i copied it incorrectly though. I've drawn it up again and i think it is much more clear. I've tried to follow all connections through as well and i have hopes that this one makes sense. if you don't mind taking a look at this diagram (i promise it"s easier to read) it would make me feel a lot better about starting the actual wiring. thanks again
