AWZ- Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!Sorry, I had to move this thread from General Guitar Schematics to here. I don't know if this helps or not, I just ggogled and found this from a Russian Jackson site: I tried to enlarge the text but since it's just a screenshot it wasn't legible. But Jackson and Charvel were/are related, and this would appear to be the guitar in question. Note that this guitar had several possible pickup combos, so there are separate diagrams for each pickup option. But there is just a single "master" diagram showing the preamp, battery, V & T controls, etc. So, each pickup diagram then comnects into the "master" diagram. What I noticed is that you said your guitar was a HSS, and that it had 3 mini-toggles. On the diagram, the HSS option uses a 5-way switch, while the 3 SC guitar gets the mini-toggles. So I was wondering if perhaps the HB on yours was a recent addition, and perhaps that was why the wiring was disconnected?

Would it be possible to post a couple pictures of what you've got? Documentation and standardization was not a big thing with the 80's Charvels and Jacksons. Model numbers were more like suggestions and wiring configs could vary within a model year.
Newey's right, the early 80's Charvels used primarily Jackson pickups...unless it was custom...then yeah, you got what was hot that week... These Jackson pickups were all passive, but you could get a primitive preamp option. If yours is a 1986 model, then you're in the Jackson years, so a search for Jackson schematics is probably in order.
Not to cast aspersions, some of these guitars and basses were really very good. The problem is that from the late 70's until now the Charvel name has had several different owners. In the beginning Charvel just made aftermarket parts, moved to making guitars with parts from several different OEMs in the trade...and this Bohemian approach lasted well into the Jackson years. By the end of the 80's the Charvel name was sold again and production moved to Asia. Fender even had a hand in there, which is interesting, as Wayne Charvel worked for them in his early days.
Having fun yet?...

Good post, Newey. There's a site named Guitar Repair Alley that has a Guitar Schematics section. Appropriate to this thread, and probably very useful elsewhere in our endeavors. Some of their off-site links are out of date. But their Fender and Charvel schematics (pdf format) are on-site. www.guitarrepairalley.com/Guitar_Schematics.htmlTheir diagram for the Model 6 has 3 mini toggles and HSS pickup configuration. www.guitarrepairalley.com/Site/images/schematics/Charvel/Wiring%20Diagrams/Model%206.pdfTo awz:
Early in your post you mention EMG pickups but later you spec the J-50BC and J-200 Jackson pickups. If the Jackson pickups were replaced with active pickups, the screenshot Newey provided or the pdf in the second link of my post will still be useful. You'll just have a two extra wires on each pickup for the battery connections.
