Hello all! My uncle gave me his old Ovation (1974) 1617.4 and I'm trying to fix the wiring to make it Acoustic/electric. I took the strings off to re-solder the black wire(red was on tight) from a box by the volume knob. Now that's fixed. From the volume knob box there is another cable that goes to the lugjack in the back. It's wired like the diagram on the bottom here ( www.ovationtribute.com/Ovation%20Schematics/Ovation_4_Lug_Jack_Wiring_VT-FET3-OP24/Ovation_4_Lug_Jack_Wiring_VT-FET3-OP24.html). Seems cool, when I plug in( mind you still with no strings on) I hear noise so I kinda know its working. Then I found another wire just floating around in there too. It looks and feels like it may be coming from the volume knob box as well. Any idea what this wire does or what I should connect it to? Maybe this website will help ( www.ovationtribute.com/Schematics.html).I'm having a hard time reading most of it. Thanks all!

jfr- Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!Sorry, I had to move your post, it didn't belong in "Guitars" since you're asking a wiring question. Unfortunately, the jack wiring diagram isn't very legible. I don't know which diagram from the Ovation site corresponds to your particular guitar, although the model # you gave seems to be a Legend model. So, I'm not being much help, am I? Be patient, someone will be along . . .
