Hi guys (& gals)!! If this has been done to death, please let me know, OK? I would appreciate if someone who has a quality build Strat (any brand name) has ever replaced the original Humming-buckers with any Duncan (or equal) dual rails???!!! And where the placements had the best tonal balance and sound pleasing results? I bought 2 of these a few months back (8 months+) and haven't had the guts or experience of changing out pickups (although I DO build a lot of cigar box sliders...one with a nice zebra dual...Bluesy!!!!!) and will need a guide or maybe an article on such rebuilds. Any help would be greatly appreciated and repaid by my magic beans I've been saving, LOL! Thanks in advance, among.

BTW: Hi.......I'm new here and I collect Guitars and laptop pc's. I have them rebuilt by a friend luthier that is very talented. I rebuild Laptops back to original condition and resell at below eBay prices! Not too hard to do if you have a small shop like mine! Great to find a site that is Guitar oriented that I can get and give advice for many of the things done with (or not) them! So far.....I like it very much!

Among-
Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!
I don't have any personal experience with those pickups, so no answer for your question. But someone may be along . . .
Since you said "Strat", I assume this is a HSS Strat, and we're talking about replacing the bridge HB, correct?
EDIT: Just re-read it, OK we're talking replacing the single coils- all three, I assume- with dual rails.

Hello and welcome!
I have dimarzios : Fast Track II (bridge), Fast Track I (middle), Chopper (neck) on my oldest strat (and first guitar), and also an "Air Norton S" on another guitar in the neck. All (except fast track I) are pretty powerful. Nice tones. I have two push-pull pots for series/parallel, added tone to the bridge, and one toggle to add bridge in all positions (which basically is useful for neck/bridge in parallel since all other combinations are covered by the standard 5-way switch).

I suspect rails would be most effective where the strings move the most (neck). No loss of power during bends. At the bridge a string stays within the width of the polepiece no matter where you bend it.

Lower the height of the pups, and the misalignment effect's importance is drastically decreased.

Welcome Among, I been away for a while. I've found that a good sounding instrument is easier to amplify. The cheap ones can have a certain charm which can get ugly when the gain is turned up.
Hey greek, agreed. The other hand thinks that the smaller amount of vibration at the bridge needs the tighter definition of a rail vs. polepiece, as well as more power. I myself prefer the lowered pickup settings as you mentioned, it gives the signal more room to breath. My avatar shows my first three. The yellow Lincoln (Jap) Tele has a Duncan JB mounted EVH-style at the bridge since 1984. The blue Kramer has a Dimarzio Fred since 1990, both direct mounted. The Ovation is a birdseye maple 1990 Collectors with 24 frets. The only change I would want is a series/parallel switch on the Fred. It was more pleasant when I tried parallel years ago. It wasn't intended to be screwed down next to a blocked Floyd and the lows can be a bit unruly.

I played a Fender Billy Korgan Strat with 3 Dimarzios twin rails in it and it was great .still sounded like a strat which is odd when you think about it so check the spec of that guitar and you will have a basicplatform to work it all out .

Thanks for your input, alfsboy! Among hasn't been back in a while, so here's hoping he sees your thoughts.
But anyway:
