I've asked this question on other forums but I want to get all the pickup and wiring experts' opinions. I've been thinking of swapping out the humbuckers from my Epi LP Junior and replacing them with a P-90 pup. My question is, what goes good with P-90s - 250k or 500k pots?

I've asked this question on other forums but I want to get all the pickup and wiring experts' opinions. Heh; stand by for an inexpert opinion. The pair of "Soapbars" that I just spotted on eBay are listed as "DC Resistance: 6.5K OHMS." I'd say 250K pots for those, but I could be mistaken. Seymour Duncan Phat Cats are listed on zZounds' site as "D.C. resistance: 7.98K Ohms (n) 8.49K Ohms (b)." Allparts listed a PU_0418-### (last three vary according to nickel or black) at 5.4K, and a TSB-91 "Razor Vintage Style P-90®" at 10.2K ohms. For some of those hotter ones, what about a 500K pot "knocked down" to 300K or so with a parallel resistor, as in this article? www.projectguitar.com/tut/potm.htmI'm going to try that on a couple of my projects, as soon as I get all the resistor values I need for the experiments.

I've found that 500k pots sound best with P-90s, 250ks seem to take away some of their charater to me. 300k might be perfect, but I've never tried it...

500 are considered normal as this is what p90s first came with and humbs were develeoped as direct replacements
