HI All Just found this forum.Hope someone can help! I am going to put new pups in my ibanez "roadstar2 strat". I am lookin at dimarzio's , bridge humbucker , middle and neck single coil. I will have 1 vol & 1 tone control with a five way switch. My question will I have to get a matched set with the middle Single coil pup reverse wound and reverse polarity?
My current set up is 3 single coils.
Help apperciated Phil..........

It depends on what set you're gonna have. The most common thing that people does is: 1. get a RWRP SC whose DC resistance is equal to that of the HB (splitted, not full HB), if you use the exact same HB for both N & B, or 2. get a RWRP SC whose DC resistance is equal to the average of both HB's (splitted, again, of course), if you use different HB's for N & B.

HI All Just found this forum. Hi, Phil. Welcome aboard. I don't think you "have to" have an RWRP middle SC, but it sure helps when combining neck and middle. (So you get humbucking "behavior" for that combination.) Changing the bridge to an HB opens up a lot of new possibilities, but I'll leave that discussion to some of the other members. Have you considered adding any new options like series/parallel selection while you've got it open and are swapping out pups? And are you planning on being able to coil-cut the bridge pup? (Just a few more colors for your palette.) Besides the HB cutout, more switches could be good justification for a new custom pickguard, too. ;D
