Just wondering if anyone here was familiar with Ed Rembold's diagram with the above title. I can post a link to where I found it, but it's actually four files in a folder, which you'd need WinZip or something similar to open, and something to view the GIFs. Well, okay: blueguitar.org, then "Schematics and Links" => "Misc Guitar Wiring" => "toneczar.zip [834k]." And the actual question behind this exercise is: What's that bridge tone pot doing when you pull it to the "Phat" setting? (It apparently acts as a kill switch when it's pulled while either HB is selected by itself, if that adds a hint without anyone having to see the diagram.)

dude, that diagram gives me a headache, the way things swirl around on the page!
anyway, it looks to me like "phat" is just bridge in series with neck. if you select just one pup on the selector it breaks the connection to the output. a poor-man's kill switch

dude, that diagram gives me a headache, the way things swirl around on the page! Sorry about that, Unk. Even I might be able to wire the durned thing, though. (But I'm still thinking mini-toggles for coil shunt, etc.) Ya want plain aspirin, or something that's less likely to beat up on your stomach? I kinda thought it was both/series, but wanted a second opinion. I'm still working on the "MPC Tone Spectrum Circuit" or "L6-S" idea. Now that's a headache.

An L6-S (or possibly L-6S, according to the time period) was a Gibson design by Bill Lawrence. It wasn't a huge seller, but those that have 'em sometimes own more than one. The two original versions of that "horizontal" rotary switch, "beyond PRS" idea I had.

eeeyyyyuuuugggghhh. the saggy, melty, snowman. Ohhh, yeah, I remember looking them up after reading that thread. But this'll be that wiring setup in an LP-type bod, if I can manage it. Maybe I'll just call it a "Tone Spectrum" or something (I think MPC is long gone) so Unk won't get queasy when it's mentioned. ;D I only recently realized that one of X189Player's images on the old forum is more like a wiring diagram than a schematic. Might be something I can work from, if I can get the switch oriented right as to where all the terminals are.
