I am happy to report that Alex is very much alive and well! We met up for a couple beers, in Copenhagen, DK, last summer, while I was on tour.

And did you ask him why he's avoiding us?

Not sure about the 5 year plan. He said he hadnt been playing too much, couldnt find like-minded musicians. He's using Mixology as his creative outlet

Last time I heard from the lad he was on his way to Australia with a woman he'd met in Copenhagen.

Frankly, you're all a bunch of gossips. Maybe not all but I do post a lot so it probably seems that way. Welcome back, Ace!

Hi, Ace!
I like your new avatar, it's different from the normal run of the mill around here.
So long as you check in once in awhile, we promise not to gossip about you behind your back!

I took it as bending strings to make "A S". But there's only 5, so he's either taken up 5-string bass, he's taken off the low E a la Keith Richards, or he broke one whilst thrashing.

Yes, Elliott Smith is a favourite of mine.
I'm not sure it could be said that I'm "back." I popped by to see if some of my old schemes that I couldn't find on any hard drives might still be floating about online. I was pleasantly surprised to see this thread. Thank you for thinking about me.
For anybody who's curious about what I'm up to: I spent four and a half years in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 2013 until the end of 2017, and I just spent 2018 in Sydney, Australia, with my partner, who hails from there. I couldn't easily find any music scenes in either city I could get involved in -- although Copenhagen has an incredible jazz scene that I don't have the chops to participate in -- and so my guitar-related interests turned less and less from circuitry and solos on the electric guitar into very scant songwriting on an acoustic. I worked in the hospitality industry in both locations, and it swallowed most of my time and energy. I've just returned to Copenhagen for a slew of complicated reasons (thankfully I'm still 'with' my partner, although the newfound long-distance aspect to our relationship is hard).
I returned to my family's homestead for Christmas, and found a box of electrical bits and some necks and bodies. Tinkering seemed like a fun holiday project. Well, I've been at home for a week now, and besides searching for old diagrams here, all I've done is gorge myself on food and play with the dog. So much for a return to the nutziverse.
Hopefully some time in the future I'll re-engage with this world more often. Until then, I expect you'll see me around occasionally -- but only occasionally.
I still think fondly of losing myself in wiring puzzles and struggling to understand transistors, and remain eternally grateful to Newey, Cynical1, JFrankParnell and Sumgai for hosting me all those years ago on my nomadic holiday across the United States.
