Hello,
Not sure if this is the right place for questions. If not I appologize. Below is a layout of what I would like to do but not sure if it can be done on a standard three way crl blade switch. I would like to not have to use any push pull or any other switch. Just what is listed below. Perhaps theres a way to get a custom 3 way Blade switch but I'm hoping that it can be done with a standard. I appreciate any help. thanks! -Mark
2Humbuckers, 1 vol 1 tone (thats it)
postion 1: Full Bridge Bucker
Position 2: Full neck Bucker and Bridge Split North Coil (coil closest to the neck)
Position 3: Full Neck Bucker

Hello, Mark. - This is exactly the right place to start a thread with these kinds of questions.
- Yes, I believe it will be possible with a standard 3-way such as would be found on a Tele. There's a minor issue with a coil hanging from hot in Position 2, but I wouldn't worry too much about that. Fender leaves coils hanging from hot in their Teles with a 4-way switch. In my opinion, it's to avoid it when you can, but it's not a deal-breaker.
- When combining a split HB and full HB, usually the preference is to have full Bridge and split Neck (and the Neck with the coil closest to the Neck - South. You might like that better but if you're sure you want to do it the way you specified, then let's look at doing it your way.
- A 5-way superswitch would allow you two additional choices and eliminate the hanging from hot issue. Just tossing that out there as a possibility for your consideration.
- What brand are your HBs? If someone makes a drawing for you, knowing which color codes to use in the drawing will speed up the process.

Thank you so very much!!
No, I would like to go with the neck full and Bridge split in the #2 position and I don't really want 2 extra positions since I really only need 3 and it nice and easy. So if we could do the 3 way that would be great. I picked up some pickups off ebay with the standard color scheme and 5 total wires for each pickup. they are taylor humbuckers. I realize that all pickups use the color scheme of wires differently but if you dont know what taylor uses the just let me know which pickup brand you use as an example and I can try and work it out on my end. Thank you so very much for your help. I hope that hot wire does become a giant antenna for radio but I'm willing to take the chance with proper shielding. Thanks again!!

I am be confusing which coil is north or south but the split coil in the Bridge that is supposed to be active in position 2 should be the one closest to the neck. Thanks!

No problem. We'll go with your original plan. Normally we design around Seymour Duncan or Dimarzio color codes. But there's no reason to not use the color code that applies to your pickups if we can translate it properly. Here's a chart from Seymour Duncan that shows the color codes of a few manufacturers. Typically, the south coil start is connected to ground, the north coil start is connected to hot, and the two finishes are connected together as a series link. Does whatever documentation you got with your pickups match up with any of these?Tomorrow, I'll look around and see if there's already a suitable drawing we can use as a starting point.
I am be confusing which coil is north or south but the split coil in the Bridge that is supposed to be active in position 2 should be the one closest to the neck. Thanks! Usually the Bridge HB is oriented so that the Slug coil (North) is closest to the neck. If that's the way you plan to orient your Bridge pickup, we'll use the North coil.

This link: www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/taylor-pickups-info-for-you.509233/Suggests that the Taylor pickup wiring colors are identical to Seymour Duncan. Of course, this is some guy on the internet saying it, accuracy not guaranteed. The only wrinkle is that he mentions 2 black wires, with the thicker of the two being the frame ground (which is typically a bare or braided wire on most HBs). The thinner black one is the signal-carrying wire for the North coil. Oh, and Markstr12: Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!

I guess I'll trust some guy on the internet. At least this time. I took an SD drawing and seriously hacked it. Changed the wiring completely at the 3-way. Bridge has been re-stacked to get North coil when selecting at the series link. Yellow wire represents white because I can't do bordered wires, and white on white . . . well.

Good work, RT! It is a little tough to see on the diagram (but important to note) that the two common lugs are connected by a black jumper wire.

thank you so very much! I really appreciate you taking the time out to help me. Would this layout make full neck humbucker and north coil in parallel in position two? Again thank you so very much for your help.
Kind Regards, Mark

Would this layout make full neck humbucker and north coil in parallel in position two? Yes indeed. Also, the #1 position (Bridge full HB) is with the lever moved toward the bridge. Normally I would list sequence for a 3-way blade with 3 at the top of the list and 1 at the bottom. But it seemed rather obvious what you wanted.
