OK... My old man gave me an old distortion pedal (plastic box Arion or something like that) and a Vantage powered mixer, not working.
I dismantled the effects pedal and I am currently doing the same to the mixer. I collected some pots, input jacks (both 1/4" and XLR), LED's, various caps, transistors, resistors and some funny little 8 legged spidery things (op amp type things?). ;D
Anyway, are all these parts ok to re-use in other projects?
Thanks, Shane

Thanks, Shane I would imagine so. Just be careful with the spindly, spidery bits. Just a bit of static charge can fry them.

Are these "spidery things" op amps?? On the back it reads... 4558DD JRC 1224B

op-amps.
the 4558s are PRIZED among tube-screamer cloners.
but only certain "vintages". the later ones reportedly have little value.
i don't know if yours are gems or clutter.

The unit I am getting them from is about 12-13 years old. There is about 16 of them in total, most of them have a different lower number ie; 4558DD-JRC-1224B, 4558DD-JRC-1336B,etc
Is that info any help?

The "JRC" part rings a bell, but of course I can't remember where I saw it. Somehow Analog Man's site comes to mind; if I find it, I'll point you that way. You could have, like, y'know, a gold mine there! ;D EDIT:Found it. www.analogman.com/tshist.htmYou type "JRC 4558" into Google, and the first four things to come up (didn't look beyond that) are about Tube Screamers. 'Magine that.

A little more about those ICs (op amps): www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/mods/ts9.htmI think the 'DD' indicates a production run, but I dunno about the four-digit end numbers. Maybe I can run it by Analog Mike or somebody.

you can surely reuse those parts but transistors, resistors and capacitors are not exactly expencive.

Yeah I am not keeping many caps or resistors but I am keeping green caps and diodes etc because parts are hard to come by around my area

well, just be careful not to store those green caps where they might be mistaken for chicklets.
those caps might look tasty, and sound tasty, but...
