Kent 742 wiring diagram

Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!

I'm assuming a websearch turned up a whole lotta nothing?

I don't know much about this guitar. The "Kent" brand name was just that, a brand name from a distributor. They were made by different manufacturers, notably by Guyatone and Teisco (well, Teisco was also a brand name, I don't recall the name of the mfr.). This one screams "Teisco"

One idea would be to ask Steve and the guys over at VintAxe.com Forums. If anyone has a diagram, one of those guys would.

Other than that, I have some questions and then some educated guesswork. First, the questions:

1) Is this guitar in working order? Or in Pieces? Does it have wiring or not?

2) The 4 white rocker switches along the top of the line of pickups- 2-position or 3-position?

3) If the guitar is working, gut shots of the wiring would help. Also, a multimeter could settle some issues as to pot values, etc. Do you have one?

As for the informed guesswork, Teisco guitars were famous for having their pickups wired in series, instead of parallel, a la the Brian May Guitar. But I find it hard to believe they'd have four pickups in series. Parallel is more likely.

If the rocker switches are 2-position, logic would say they're on/off switches for each of the individual pickups, corresponding to the positions of the 4 pickups.
Logic would then say the 8 pots are individual V and T controls for each pickup. But with all 4 pickups in the circuit "on", I have to think 8 pots is going to kill the tone something awful.

But if that is the way it is wired, it's simple enough. You can imagine each pickup as an individual module. Each pickup gets wired first to its V and T pots, then to its on/off switch, then all 4 modules come together at the output jack (if the guitar doesn't already have some such thing, I would recommend fashioning a wiring buss to connect all those wires at the jack.) 4 wires is a bit much for a poor lowly jack lug.
