I've been having a lot of difficulty with Jaguar/Jazzmaster style slide switches from Switchcraft, particularly with the positions not engaging properly. I am finding them a lot more flimsy than toggle or rotary switches. Does anyone else have this issue? Are there any slide switches from alternate manufacturers available to fit the hexagonal control plate slots?

Hi sydddSlide switches are an inherently inferior design. You might get lucky and find some that are of slightly better quality from another manufacturer but it seems unlikely to me. You might look at a local distributor and find a listing for slide switches from other manufacturers such as alcoswitch, NKK, etc. Be sure to start with a mounting hole spacing of 1.125 inch and a handle that's no wider than the original. But I'm not sure you'll actually be upgrading. The only 'plus' to a slide switch (in my opinion) is that it isn't easy to accidentally change positions by bumping it, which can happen with a mini-toggle. Other than that, a minitoggle tends to be a much better choice.
