would it hurt anything to hook 2 amps up tp 1 cab in parallel? power restrictions are not a concern; the speakers can take both amps on at the same time, but i wont be using more then one amp at the same time anyway.

I think an A/B switch from the two amps to the one cab may be OK, but I would not let two amps be connected to each other in parallel, whether or not they are both running. They could fight each other, possibly catastrophically.
Even with the A/B switch, there are possible issues relating to the moment when the switch over is made. Depending on switch type, either both are connected, or neither is, for a split-second. My understanding is that some amps don't like a no-load condition. Therefore the change may only be safe with both amps off.
Another option is if you can split your cab to stereo, with two seperate channels one for each amp. Ok to do this if the speaker impedances match the amps.

BELIEVE IT! bad in tube amps, worse in SS. just don't do it! but i'm glad you asked, it gives me an opportunity to re-use one of those wonderful JohnH quotes: "...the answer would be no, with nothing for your trouble but grief and tears before bedtime." unk

unklmickey, Sure, the tears may stop by bedtime, what about the moment when the wallet has to open up to replace the busted amps? No doubt about it, hooking two power amp sections in parallel would be a genuine 2-hanky tear jerker! sumgai
