not the best wiring just but can only do so much with these. most importantly: sounds great! handed it off to the other guitarist at church to take home to try out and see if he wants to buy it

wow I've really neglected posting here... just finished this acoustic 370 today. tolex was covered in SEVERAL layers of spray paint. if it weren't as much i would've cleaned it off but it was easier just to retolex with the vox/hiwatt panama i had on hand halfway through polishing the corners all electro caps replaced, preamp fixed (couple bad transistors, bad 330k biasing resistor), ready to button up glamour shot in the great (no longer) white north

here's a Sears/silvertone amp i cleaned up the unsafe power wiring (including a replacement transformer that had the wires touching the chassis, no grommet... i know the guy who replaced it, works mostly on radios so probably didn't think about an amp being carted all over the place, thrown in the back of a van, etc)

Dang, that brings back memories. I almost bought that model Silvertone back in about 1970 or so, but the one I was looking to buy had been used and abused, in much worse shape that the one you've got. It worked OK and sounded good but I kept my money. IIRC, the guy wanted $75, I offered $50 due to its poor condition but he wouldn't budge.

this one was found by a childhood neighbor of my dad at the curb on trash day. for the TINY little tank, the reverb wasn't bad at all. decent trem. only real knock (besides uncommon tubes) is that it didn't take drive pedals well, so the job it was serving in the shop (amp to test stuff on) wasn't being carried out very well

sunn beta bass combo i converted into a head (chopped the combo cabinet, reinforced the then-wobbly joints, covered in original tolex), recapped, replaced 5 broken nylon pot shafts, fixed cmos channel switching)

(just as it's a rule here to leave no lug unused, i feel the same way about triodes!) Technically, the exact statement reads like so: The First Law of GNutz2: "Leave no lug unsoldered."

That's a fair bit different from "no lug unused... Ostensibly, you could simply dab on some solder, and you'd be in like Flynn!

i keep neglecting this thread. here's my dad's 71 deluxe reverb that i recapped, threw a three prong plug in, turned the vacated polarity switch hole into a mid pot for the normal channel (holy crap it makes it actually useable, can get tweed-like tones), and cleaned up for sale. proceeds are going to a drum sander for the shop

fender ultimate chorus. main filter caps had already been replaced but i tweaked it so that the drive channel doesn't sound horrible (there's a ton of HUGE 22uf coupling caps in there and the mxr distortion+ like gain stage amplifies way too low a frequency. i like to tweak these so the lowest it'll boost is about 150hz). thing sold immediately on reverb

~1949 gibson br-9 lapsteel with matching amp. by the size of the amp you'd assume it to be something small and champ-like but it's got two 6v6s in there so it's sort of an octal preamp deluxe. stays clean with the lapsteel (as one would expect, not bashing the strings) but the second half of the clip is a les paul showing this can get some grit. replaced all electro caps in the amp, wired the power for proper (safe) three prong power cable and instead of switching the neutral the power switch switches line voltage as it should. lapsteel needed to have the pickup rewound as the coil was open

dad's friend stopped by and dropped off these two montgomery ward airline amps (gim-9151 and gim-9131) for me to have they're in the queue, although I've got a couple repairs and a beat up sunn concert lead to get going first. both interesting schematic-wise, the bass amp has two parallel output stages (like some of the early marshall jtm45/100). I'll probably just grab some fender-style tolex and recover these because they look (and smell) pretty nasty
