Hello all! Here's something some of you might be able to help me with - I've got an old Westone Spectrum ('80s Matsumoku job), humbucker/single/humbucker 1xvol 1xtone 1x3way toggle config. Now, when I got it the pots had been removed, and the bridge humbucker was replaced with a non-tappable one. The neck humbucker and the centre single-coil were disconnected internally. I know from researching the internet that this guitar would have originally had BOTH humbuckers coil-tapped, using push/pull pots on both the volume and tone controls. My problem is this: it's only got a 3-way round toggle selector switch and now has no push/pull pots - they're both just standard pots. I want to get all 3 pickups working. I don't really want to add any new visible switches if possible. But I can't find a wiring diagram to wire up 3 pickups to a single 3-way switch! (or not one without using a 5-way lever switch, or ones using push/pull switches). I can't (won't) change the 3-way and leave a big hole in the body, so is the only way forward to get some push/pulls? Anyone got any other suggestions please?? Thank you!

if you have enough space where the 3-way is, consider a 5 or 6 position rotary switch and chicken-head knob.
several of JohnH's designs use one or two of these. perhaps one of those designs might be a good place to start, then make the alterations you need.

Get a push/pull, and wire it as a mid p/u on switch. You won't get just the mid p/u alone, but you'll have the 1, 2, 4, 5, as wired to a 5 way.

How about having a three way toggle and two push/pulls.
One push/pull (switch 1) swaps the bridge HB for the middle single coil and splits the Neck HB.
The other push/pull (switch 2) splits the Bridge HB and switches it one with any other combination selected.
So:
With both push/pulls down:
1 Neck HB
2 Neck HB plus Bridge HB
3 Bridge HB
With switch 1 up:
1 Neck Single
2 Neck Single plus Middle
3 Middle
With switch 2 up:
1 Neck HB plus Bridge Single
2 Neck HB plus Bridge Single
3 Bridge Single
With both switches up:
1 Neck Single plus Bridge Single
2 Neck Single plus Middle plus Bridge Single
3 Middle plus Bridge single
What do you reckon? Should be a pretty straightforward wiring diagram (in my mind's eye, at any rate!).
