Wasn’t really sure where to put this. We’ve talked about it around here in the past, and I finally went and did it, and it works just fine. In most guitars this will be a completely temporary and reversible “mod”.
Unfortunately the video rendered weird so that the stupid picture I drew of the polarity protection/filter gets obscured, but it is just simple and almost standard except that I always use the series diode that actually protects against reverse polarity and AC power rather than the parallel one which actually just explodes so the manufacturer can void your warranty for not using their supply.

That's an interesting idea! Have you considered putting the diode across the terminals of the battery-bypass clip instead of using a jumper there?
Or if you're okay with sacrificing another 1/2 volt, you could use a bridge in the wiring between the connector where the wall wart plugs in and the wires that supply the power to the ring. That way it wouldn't matter what polarity the wall wart had, just the voltage.
Also, this might be slightly dangerous in the wrong hands. If someone used the powered cable on a guitar that had a battery installed, they'd be providing 18v to the guitar preamp rather than 9v.

Have you considered putting the diode across the terminals of the battery-bypass clip instead of using a jumper there? Honestly not really because there's no good way to connect the rest of the filter circuit at that spot. That whole crap could probably just hang dead bug style from the jack, if one wanted to bother fishing that out, or for example on an active electric where the jack is more accessible. The diode bridge is a decent idea, but takes up more space and I think it might be nice to have it just not work so that you can tell it's the wrong supply before you go plug it into one of your pedals which will just explode. But that's also a feature! There's kind of a thing among active players (especially bassists, I think???) where they mod the things to hold two batteries for more headroom. Nevermind that nothing you're likely plug it into has anywhere near that much headroom... This kind of makes it easy to experiment with those kinds of things, though. I guess I didn't intend for it to be completely idiot proof. That said, my dad went by my house to grab it while I was away, and hadn't yet seen the video, so he took the cable that I had sitting right on top of the thing and set it aside... :/
