Too much theory and not enough practical so I jumped in and had a go. It was a lot of fun, other than the soldering iron burn on the finger tip (that’s still stinging)

Part of the motivation behind this a great interest in moving the bridge pickup into alternative positions , for example having the magnet under the thin e string in the same spot it would have been on Hendrix guitar. Also having it right In the middle of where the bridge and middle are normally. Strat bridge pups are to too thin and sharp and the middle is a bit bland so a compromise might be interesting
I’d also like to experiment with two single coils in parallel, moving them around to different positions and also two single coils in series moved around.
There has historically been guitars with sliding pickups . One of the most modern is called “the answer”. And there a few guys on YouTube that have done it with bits of Lego wheels and bits of sliding drawer mechanisms. There’s another guy that had the 5 strat pickups and demoed all the possible parallel combos (Pity he didn’t do series too)
Mine is a bit of a shambles at the moment, I need to figure out a way to keep the pickup stable . Maybe longer wood screws and direct mount to body at different positions
