The first one actually is pretty cool.

I stumbled across Trogly's Youtube channel a few weeks ago. And amusingly I saw this particular video just a couple of days ago. Thanks for posting it. The first one actually is pretty cool. It's a definite contender for the Rube Goldberg award. Not something I would want but it is interesting and it isn't a butcher job on a valuable guitar. The PRS with the hacked-off tail which appears later in the video made me very sad. ☹️

Yeah, same idea, a radical double bout-ectomy. Mine is more teardrop-ish (as was my intent, to look like a Vox Mark VII). Mine started life as a Washburn. One can only hope that it was an Epiphone gold-top, not a '59 Gibson!

Well the punk in me hopes it was a real LP. I think you did a better, cleaner job. I’ve got a couple around here that went a little sideways. I really don’t want anybody to ever see the back of my 12 string tele, but honestly if you look closely at about anything I’ve modded, it’s pretty easy to tell I have no crafting skills whatsoever.

Well the punk in me hopes it was a real LP. The punk in you will be pleased to know it's a real Gibson. The headstock shape is the first clue. And when viewed in full-screen, the Gibson logo is easy to see. From the audio commentary on the video, it's an "early '70s Les Paul Deluxe" so that's not nearly as criminal as doing this to a '59. But still an inherently expensive guitar.

Thx. I can't believe it's been nigh-on 15 years since I built that thing. It has two "vintage" Epiphone HBs, PAF style, with the one-conductor-and-a-shield wiring. I think I paid $8 for the pickups on Ebay, the Washburn body/neck probably cost me $40, so not counting "sweat equity" I probably have 60 bucks total into the thing, counting the rattle-cans for the finish.
It's a bit unbalanced, having lost a good deal of body weight, I need to weight the heel end a bit if I ever get around to it.
