Anybody know where to get a version of SPICE (cheap or free) that knows about vacuum tubes, transformers, etc.?
I want to do schematic entry, and simulation for an amplifier idea I have. Thanks.
Regards.

strats, Page JohnH, paging JohnH, SPICE referral in Aisle 4 please!Seriously, here's an extract from another thread, posted by John back in January: Im using the student edition of pSpice 9.1, which is free.
Here is a link from which 9.2.3 can be downloaded (I havnt tried it however): www.sss-mag.com/spice.html
It is great for any kind of passive circuit with R, C and L. I also use it for active circuits, although I do not have data for all the common transistor types. it is very useful for testing a principles, but i find that sometimes the best values for components turn out a bit different in real life.

Errr, John, didn't you point out earlier that the tube data exists, but that it comes in the from of an expensive plug-in?
Scratch that. I was gonna d/l the student version myself, and take a look at just how much it can be modified by a plug-in. Sadly, the above link takes me to where I should be, but that page is outta date.... there's no more getting a student version at all, according to OrCad's page.
Well, good ol' Google to the rescue. Just search for "pspice student download", and there's a raft of good stuff. I'm also gonna search for 'data plug-in", as soon as this d/l is done. ;D

SPICE gives a great buzz, all that seeing into the future, folding space stuff --- but those all blue eyes are a little creepy.
