Will there be a difference to the sound of the guitar depending on how many components are in the circuit ?
I understand volume pots create a load ? Resistance ? (I forget ) but what about toggle switches ?
Should I expect any difference between the following random hypothetical selection of circuits
1. Pickup hard wired to output jack
2. Pickup with one mini toggle
3. Pickup with 5 mini toggles and 2 caps
4. 3 pickups with 30 toggles switches , 5 caps
You get the idea
Cheers

Unless they are no-load pots
Yes.
Every bit of wire, component, etc. adds some resistance. How many toggle switches would it take before we would reach a level of audible difference? I dunno, but I suspect the number is well in excess of 30. The resistance across a single switch (a properly made one, anyway) ought to be miniscule.
Now, caps are another topic altogether. Depending on their values and how they are wired into a circuit, they can and do affect the signal to an audible degree. As you yourself have discovered in your switch-and-pickup mule that you detailed in the other thread. So, in your examples above which include a cap, the answer is that it depends . . .

Unless they are no-load pots I don't think a no-load pot could be used successfully for a volume pot. Since it disconnects the wiper from the element at maximum clockwise rotation, that would kill the sound at full volume. In a two-terminal arrangement, such as a treble-cut circuit, they can perform the desired task and present no load at maximum clockwise.

Thanks guys
So here’s a question
The circuit I’m using has a switch that introduces a cap into the circuit .
The switch was OFF but when i placed the cap into the circuit the sound changed .
Would it be possible for the cap to affect the circuit even when the switch is not on ?
I admit that I’m not confident my wiring was well done but I’m sure it was accurate, as in, everything was where it should be.
Instead of wiring the cap directly to the toggle switch i run two wires to a hifi terminal thing for speaker wires (black and red plastic clips with spring mechanism ) not sure if the terminal was creating Problems or not
