I mean, you'd think for that, at least you'd get a decent case.....

And, at that price, it will presumably go into a glass case in a museum somewhere (Paul Allen's place in Seattle would be my guess), and never be played again. To my mind, that's a shame.

We can rebuild it. We have the technology "We can make it better than it was before . . ." (Insert "shachiiinng "shachiiinngg" sound effect)

We can rebuild it. We have the technology "We can make it better than it was before . . ." (Insert "shachiiinng "shachiiinngg" sound effect) I thought that the result of Gibson's experiments into bionic guitars proved that this was a bad idea.
Fun fact: on my tablet the thread title just reads "The Six Million Dollar Man" without any Unicode hijinks. (Did you know you can use a limited subset of BBCode in thread titles? I know [s] definitely works, others I don't remember, and I can't currently find a reference page.)

Now when you go to buy a microphone with the Rogue name on it, you'll know exactly why it costs so bleepin' much. I'm not so much against locking things up that should be free to be played, it's more like I'm dismayed by aging hippies flaunting their money* in a very vain attempt to "prove" that they have some kind of power. I put it on the same level as scurrying about town with a so-called 'trophy wife' on one's arm - it's all looks and no substance. Come on, it's only a guitar, and not a very good one at that. Kurt Cobain owned it, and played it somewhere? Holy Jeebus on a jumped-up pogo stick, that's absolutely the most "so-the-f-what" I've ever seen or heard. sumgai * A buyer's premium of 20%, just for foolishly bidding more than the rest of the gang? Oh yeah, just try to tell me that he was thinking like a businessman and not with his emotions.

But my ears ain't what they used to be, and it's a sure bet that I didn't actually go look at any websites to see if I may have mis-heard it..... ........ Still haven't, I'd rather take your word for it. But my point still stands, the buyer ain't gonna take it all in the shorts, that's an even surer bet. (To keep the flow of this thread intact, I'll not go back and edit my original post.) sumgai

I went back and listened to it again, it still sounds like 'rogue', not 'rode'. It sounded like Rogue to me right from the start. But I reckon the Auctioneer mispronounced it. Rogue is a fairly well known brand of bottom-shelf guitars. Rode (often stylized as RรDE) is known for mid-priced ( similar market segment as Audio-Technica and slightly less expensive than AKG and Sennheiser) microphones and accessories. But I don't think I'd say they cost so bleepin' much. Neumann is on the top shelf, imho. They are "bleepin' expensive" (but worth it).

i looked at the rode nt1/nt2 kits and even thought that's what i had purchased way back when but it turned out to be an akg. much better than my Marshall mxl condenser (which was better than recording vocals with a radio shack dynamic mic) baby steps

I beg everyone's pardon for not even knowing about Rode, such is simply not in my daily orbit. I refuse to be recorded for any reason (ditto for photos), and whenever I ever worked a PA board, the SM57 or SM58 was more than sufficient at levels approaching (or exceeding!) 100dB. And thanks for confirming that my ears aren't quite so bad after all. sumgai
