Saturday Night is Alright for ....Modding? Off hand, I'd say it's alright for modding, but perhaps not so much for diagramming..... You title this mod as a "4-way....", and that's fine, but then you start riffing about a 5-way switch, complete with a description of each position. OK, that's understandable, simply a typo, right? Well, what about the picture that shows a 4-way switch? (head-scratching smiley goes here) Then there's the diagram which shows 5 terminals plus the common for each pole, but whaddya know, this thing performs a hat-trick by having no output going over to the Vol/Tone/P-P controls.... only the ground wires from two different poles are shown heading away from the switch, and nothing else. (I'm not speaking about the incoming connections, they're obvious from the labels.) Still and all, yours are some of the best-looking wiring diagrams I think we've ever seen here in The NutzHouse! If she were still here and contributing, I'd say that ssstonelover had best be looking over her shoulder (and wouldn't you know it, she's also a luthier). HTH sumgai

You title this mod as a "4-way....", and that's fine, but then you start riffing about a 5-way switch, No, frets means it's the Varitone which is "4-way". But given that it's a 3-position switch, I don't see how it's '4-way" either. But sg is correct, I'm not seeing any connection betweeen the 5-way switch and the output.

A "four way" would only have three clicks? Four positions sure but only three "haptic" feedbacks?

No, frets means it's the Varitone which is "4-way". Sorry newey, but I can't go along with that. When talking about a switch here in the guitar world, the term "-way" refers to a pickup selector switch, and usually a blade-style one at that. But I'd allow Gibson toggles into that group, as they are 3-way switches for sure.... when we're speaking aboot pickup selections. All other means of switching something are "throws". We don't have "DPDW", do we? "Haptic feedback". My, we're getting pretty pedantic here, aren't we though. HTH sumgai

That's why it's in inverted commas!
