I was wondering if anybody has seen guitar stands like these. I made this and think they are really cool. I love a nice wood piece and have been playing since 1973. Think this covers both loves.

Hi gcwoodI don't see an image or link in your post so I can't say if I've ever seen anything similar to what you made.

They look nice. How are they supporting the guitar from the rear? And, any padding to prevent scratches to the axe?

They are all wood so I didnt put any padding on it. Here is a pic with my guitar in it ... 1971 Gibson Les Paul...my prized possession. These were the 1st version. I have revised the support in the rear. since. Will post newer pics later. Thanks for the feed back. These are for show and not made to travel to gigs .

Thanks....I'm biased but I think they are cool. Never seen one like em. Here is a newer pic. Those others were to just paint to your liking. Going to make Jimmy Pages double neck next! Wait for it. GCWood

I think these are very unique....Thoughts? I think I would hesitate to place my guitar on a stand without soft padding. I also think those stands are absolutely gorgeous.

Believe it or not. The rubber padding on a steel guitar stand could be more detrimental to your guitar than my stand. A guitar is coated with a nitrocellulose lacquer. This prevents damage to the wood base. These stands are also coated with lacquer. The rubber on a standard stand can have a chemical reaction with the lacquer and cause a discoloration to your axe. Lacquer to lacquer will be fine. Its is a fairly thin coating so just be a little cautious. Storing your guitar in its case is the preferred practice. FYI

case can be just as bad in nitro (although more even) that's why i stay away from the stuff (well that and because finishing with waterbased poly doesn't release any terrible chemicals into the air)
