I got a used Squier Strat for a really, really good price so when the seller said the middle tone didn't work, I thought "no problem, will fix the issue later" and bought it. I took off the pickguard and below is the wiring diagram of how it looks right now. The red wires are the ones that aren't normal according to the Fender Strat service guide, so I was hoping someone might be able to see why this is wired the way it is, and why the middle tone control does nothing. FYI - middle tone control is push/pull so there is a .022uf cap when down and .047uf when up - ? Anyhow, can anybody figure out what the original owner was trying to do, and how to get the middle tone control working? Thank you, newbie here so please forgive if I didn't post this correctly....may just remove the push/pull and go with a standard pot if this is broken...

Hi wirenewb. to Guitarnuts2! If you simply add one wire (shown in blue) your second tone control will work in the same pickup selections as a standard strat.
