Hi Guys, It’s Telecaster Building this week. I’ve got three going on simultaneously. I get this idea on how to simplify a PTB system for a Telecaster. I don’t like my 3 pot PTB because I have to use a dime size in the middle. Plus I don’t think it sounds great on a 4-Way. So, I come up with this idea for a 2 control PTB using a concentric and a 3-Way. Maybe it’s been done before, I dunno. I just started building. All confident and what not, I get it built, hook it up, and the bass cut doesn’t work. I’m sitting here looking at it cross eyed and I can’t see my error. I’m hoping the Angels will see my flub.

frets, Simple - you've got the Bass pot input and outputs both going to the same place on the Vol pot - in technical circles, we call that a Romper Room No-No! Instead, the Bass input should be coming from the switch, and the Bass output should be going to the hot side of the Vol pot. See this link for details: Bass-cut and the G&L PTB system. HTH! sumgai

Oh Sumgai, I’m so embarrassed. Well that proves I need to work on some wood for a while. Ha!! I really appreciate you finding this for me so quickly. It was driving me crazy.
And guys, don’t think less of me for this cottonheadedninnymuggins mistake.🙀

...don’t think less of me... Oh don’t worry. That wouldn’t be possible. (hope that’s enough emojis to make it clear I was kidding. I’m sorry, but I just had to. You set it up so well)

frets, I knew that something still wasn't right.... The input and output wires on your Bass pot need to be reversed. What's happening now, even in your revised version, is that the input is in series with the Treble, and that's not right - the input for each should be shared. Simply reversing the wires to the two outer lugs will do the job. The "downside" here is, of course, the rotation will become reversed. This has been discussed before, in other threads, and it boils down to what the user will stand for. But the way you have it now, the interaction between the three pots will be.... interesting, to say the least. I have to say, if the user wants it this way, warts and all, then who am I to pee in their Cheerios? HTH sumgai

Hi fretsRemoving two wires from the drawing in your OP and adding one wire, should do the trick: This is based on the assumption your dual-concentric is Audio Taper. This will have the bass control with clockwise being maximum cut. (Wiring the bass control the other way around when using an audio taper pot will have the cut occurring extremely abruptly when the control is rotated even slightly from maximum clockwise.)

Retread and Sumgai🥰, and Ash 😂 Thanks for all your help with this. I can make a Strat PTB or 4 control PTB (with Midrange) just fine. I got confused with the concentric pot. Visually and “Diagramatically”. But your help - helps me immeasurably as this harness is the “bomb” in a Tele. I’m putting it in a Quilted maple that I will post pics of for you guys. I plan on this Tele PTB Harness being a frequent flier. As always, you guys are my angels. I will post the final schematic for others to use.
