Many of out members may be too young to remember who Rube Goldberg was, but this is a perfect example. Although some pretty solid engineering had to go into this thing:

Although some pretty solid engineering had to go into this thing: Very impressive, and a heck of a lot of effort that went into it. I gather he cannot take requests for a different musical number .....

I mean they are actually fretting the bass, and at least some of it seems to be “programmable” via the peg mechanism. When I saw this thing, I had to buy it: I even used it in a song once, though I can’t remember which one atm.

I had heard they were working on a new Marble Machine that could be taken on tour. The “Marble X” I think it’s to be called. Although I could not find anything about when it will make its debut. Nor, if that was even true - just internet speculation. If is is real, I imagine the pandemic has hindered its debut. It is an amazing video but what would be waaay cooler is if Ash could find and post his song with his machine.🎼🎼 C’mon Ash, find that gem!! 🔊🔊

At 7 minutes Wintergatan plays a cover of that wonderful Marble Song... and then right afterwards, at 11 minutes, they play Stargaser 2000 with using an interesting giant wheel machine and a typewriter and a keyboard that responds to flute like air insertion... it’s astounding! 😮😀
This^ would be a concert where I’d smile the entire time... kind of like my experience at a Do Make Say Think or Pilotdrift concert. The music is incredible, insane to imagine the time taken to learn the songs, and fun to listen to! 👍

Nor, if that was even true - just internet speculation. Just discovered the Wintergatan guy talking about the “Marble Machine X” in the concert, posted above, at around the 16 minute mark. He said the Marble Machine has 50 problems; ranging from its width being larger than the doorway of the room it was built in to using rubber bands in its construction.

I've been watching this off and on for four years or more. I think I saw the original machine before the start of Marble-X. Interesting, but I think it has suffered from taking too long (too many videos). The never-ending minutiae of its design and redesign is a bit too much for me.

I think I saw the original machine before the start of Marble-X. The original video was posted here by sir newey. Interesting, but I think it has suffered from taking too long (too many videos). The never-ending minutiae of its design and redesign is a bit too much for me. I totally agree with you col, but at the same time you have to recognize: 1.) the designers are perfectionists 2.) he’s designing an a portable instrument run by marbles 3.) after implementing parts, he enjoys testing them 4.) testing is crucial for instrument creation; when flaws are found, redesigns begin If you watch the last-posted video in its entirety, you’ll learn that the final redesign has been completed; he’s now waiting on parts from around the world; after assembly, final testing will begin, to show everyone his machine works excellently as an instrument. That’s what influenced my “Wow! 😮😢”. 🙂

unregOh, I do appreciate the scale of the undertaking. And my criticisms are meant more as personal opinion than some kind of considered review. I'm sure plenty of people have stuck with it and watched every episode - but that's not for me. It is interesting - just not that interesting (to me). Having said that, I do look forward to its completion. And I have to admire the dedication and hard work from Martin Molin.

MMX-T will be the third marble machine. (‘T’ for tour.)
This video teaches tons of valuable productivity info; so it is shared here. Martin has learned much; God bless his good efforts. 😃

Ummm… he’s redesigning his flywheel design… now it’s possibly a huygen weight drive. This change means tighter music.
To understand “tighter”, watch:
and this video, explains the huygen weight drive,:
It’s quite interesting and amazing that he could build a huygen weight drive with LEGOS.
