I've been working with Floyd Rose guitars for years and understand the basics: -tighten strings = raised bridge -loosen strings = lowered bridge -tighten springs = lowered bridge -loosen springs = raised bridge
If you tune your guitar and decide you need the bridge lowered, is there a difference between tightening the springs while the guitar is tuned vs. detuning the strings, tightening the springs, then tuning the strings up?

Hi 444, I’ve worked with a lot of Floyd Rose Bridges and I always loosen the strings before a Bridge adjustment. I find that I get a far more stable tuning by slightly detuning the strings, adjusting the springs; and retuning. You can then lock In your strings and have a perfectly tuned guitar. Trying to adjust the bridge by not loosening the strings just is not one of my practices and can end up breaking a string or placing it in a weakened state where it will prematurely fail. I hope that helps.😺😺
