So, I just spent a happy few hours with the soldering iron. Should only have been 30 minutes. Here's the skinny: Harley Benton TE40-TBK, the weird one with the identity crisis. It has 2 Roswell HAFs, 1 vol, 1 tone, 1 3 way toggle. It wants to be an LP but can't decide. Anyway, I got stuck in with a 500K push pull for the tone, wired it all up and plugged it in. Nothing. Dead as a dead thing. Oh dear, I said. Checked my wiring, all good. Checked the Roswell website, colour codes totally different to anything else. Right then, my fault. Rewired it all using the correct colour codes. Plugged in, nothing. Still dead. Took it back on the bench, checked everything. Perfect, all fine, no issues to be found. Still dead. De-soldered and cleaned every single contact, resoldered everything. Checked everything with the meter. All good. Plugged it in, still dead. I'm going slightly crazy at this point. Then I see it. My headphones are plugged into the amp. Unplugged them, all good. unny that. I wonder if it might have worked the 1st time, or the second time??? Anyway, there is a point to all this, Roswell HAFs split really well, it sounds great with the coil splits. I now have (another) really versatile guitar. (and I'm an idiot). Tell me you've never done anything quite so dumb?
