Let's just say I performed the qtb mod on my strat and was so enlightened by the idea, that it prompted me to do it to all my guitars. Being that they are so noise free, would I be able to eliminate the string ground from the circuit? Please share your thoughts. A

hi Hondro,
i had a Gibson LP junior that had lost continuity to the bridge.
it hummed unless i touched a pickup cover or the end of my cable.
read "bucket o' noise" on the Guitarnuts site.
John Atchley describes that problem.
i've heard that EMG active pickups are used without a string ground, but i've never used active pups, so i don't really know about that.
but with passives, you definitely want a string ground.
