Hi guys,
I'm currently working on my Jackson guitars and swapped different floyd rose trems and pickups to get the best feeling when playing. Usually I love the Duncan Distortion which I have in many guitars with different scales, woods and hardware. It's got tight basses, punchy mids and nice grind in the highs for my taste.
For my Soloist I'd like to stay with Dimarzio since I like the Bluesbucker in the neck. I ordered an EVO 2 and while I wait I recognized the total resistance of the Norton and the EVO are almost identical. Thinking about a Norton or Air Zone as alternative to the TB-6 and also consider to swap the AlNiCo 5 magnet for a ceramic one.
The EVO 2 already has a ceramic magnet + two rows of hex pole pieces.
I wonder how close the Norton and the EVO 2 are and if there's a point to swap the EVO 2 magnet for an AlNiCo to get into the Norton ball park? Maybe changing one row of hex screws with filister heads too?
The Air Zone and Norton are currently unavailable in Austria so there's not much room to make tests or look for myself.. Any guesses?
Thanks!
