Hey all I have a humbucker with three adjustment screws and my mounting ring only has two. I was wondering if there was a work around for this that I have missed in my many hours of research.
Thanks for any assistance. Mark

markt62- Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!Yeah, Fender humbuckers, some Ibanez ones, as well as some Yamahas have the three screw set-up. The third screw is to adjust the tilt of the pickup to match the angle of the strings on guitars with angled necks. Easiest route would be to buy a 3-hole mounting ring. The only "work-around" I've ever heard of was someone over at the Ultimate guitar forum suggested a DIY bracket using a strip of metal with 3 holes, one in the center to mount the strip to the HB ring, and then 2 holes to mount the HB. These would need to be threaded with an appropriate-sized tap. You would then drill 2 holes through the HB ring to match up with the holes in the strip, with the strip being mounted under the ring. The HB screws go through those holes and screw into the tapped holes in the metal strip. You would use a nut to hold the strip in place, bolting it to the existing center hole. to the center. As I read that, I can visualize it working, but if you're not handy with drilling and tapping holes, probably a lot easier just to open your wallet for a new ring.

I sure don't disagree about getting out the wallet but I can't find any place selling 3 hole Humbucker mounting rings they are all two. I thought about how to build one and am a little handy but thought I am not the only person to run into this problem. Someone has a fix and as it turns out not exactly. Thank you for responding and you willingness to make me feel welcome. And assistance. Mark

Guitars made by Fender and others used the 3-screw HBs, so unless they only went into pickguard-equipped guitars, there have to be 3-hole HB rings. If you can find a Fender or Ibanez (or whatever) part number, then a dealer for that brand can order you the part.

Got a picture of the offending pickup? Do you know who makes said pickup?
