Hello
I swapped the SD pickuard with a EMG I had prepared at the same time while waiting for the bodies. It was not easy, lots of problems, battery location, battery stabilization, cutting pickup height screws, sanding and filing the pickguard, soldering problems, geometrical problems, but finally the end result is now much better :
the middle pickup (SC size) is a chinese one from aliexpress , worth 17 EUR, (active 9V, 25k pots) ok it hums like a SC but sounds decent clean!

How does the guitar behave now? What was the most noticeable change with the pickup swap?

How does the guitar behave now? What was the most noticeable change with the pickup swap? HTC1 Hello Cyn1!
Just got home from the 3hr rehearsal. The guitar is WAY more versatile than the previous Seymour Duncan setup. HSH beats H-H any day! Harmonics on the high E are a thing now. Tested on real songs when they were supposed to ring!
A much more balanced strat, that I can use both neck, mid, and bridge pups in an equal setting.
The mid chinese pickup is very decent sounding clean.
Now, on some notes , I dont get the sustain I was getting from the SD livewire metal bridge. I dont know why I must chase this down!

Hemingway would appreciate the title... Three guitar players, or just two with the vocalist strumming an acoustic?
Give your self a little pat on the back. You took parts, previously unacquainted, and built something that worked live...with no one bleeding from the eyes of losing a finger... So, now that you've got one guitar ready for the show, what's next on the list?
I wouldn't obsess too much on the sustain. I would bet dollars to donuts that nothing has changed mechanically on this guitar. We discussed this in the other thread, in that by trading off the unpredictable nature of the SD pickups for a more usable output from the EMG's, you had to sacrifice some sustain. You have to have a compressor pedal that can make up that difference...I mean, you're a metal guy...I thought they issued one to each of you at birth...

Hello Cyn!
the singer just strums (the guy's got like 4 guitars!!) he is trying, he is a super good singer. Actually both of them the lady and the guy are very good singers.
The other guitarist is more on the beginner side.
The more I test the sustain with other guitars it is ok, and will get better with time! as the woods dry more! Yep lotsa compression in the boss me-25!

Probably in the all-time top-ten best pieces of advice I ever received was from another band's manager. He said, and I quote: If you are ever signed to a record contract, the first thing you do is find a good teacher, and take lessons! There's more, but what I just quoted is accurate to the nth syllable. Much later in life, and not guitar related, I heard another one that I took to heart: The day you stop learning, that's the day you start dying. HTH sumgai

definitey, so true. The moment I joined the band, I knew I could no longer fool people, there would be real audience listening, so I started practicing seriously. In the long run I realized that no one would care less about the guitarist or any other instrument . In some songs the sound went off still no one noticed!
