Just another poorly disguised attempt to suck yet more money of of the pockets of retired or soon-to-retire boomers. Laughable. Or pitiful, take your choice. sumgai whatever happened to just playing your guitar ? that rascal is more complicated than the space shuttle

I say both(to sumgai).
Next year's Robot model will come with a remote control, so all you have to do is input your chord/note progression and it will play for you. This will be great for all those crazy jumping around guitarists(I am not making fun of you!), they can set down their guitars on a stand and go nutz!

OK, why Gibson didn't do this years ago, I'll never know, but we now have, for $539, the New Gibson Melody Maker series. Your choice of Vee, Explorer, SG or LP Jr. body style, one HB, one volume knob, at a reasonable price for a Made in USA set-neck Gibson. They obviously took a page from Fender's "Blacktop" series of guitars. Now, if the quality of these is at least equal to an Epiphone in the same price range, I'd say Gibby's on the right path here. They're butt simple, but for $540, one could mod these without worrying about "collectability". Hmmm. I've always wanted an Explorer with P90s . . . So, I take back the bad stuff I may have said earlier in this thread. . . . ;D

you can get the same quality if not better complete with everything you want on it for around 1/2 the price of a 2011 lp standard by buying the parts and building it yourself (assuming you know what the hell your doing) pardon my french there...

"are gibsons really over priced?" yes, considering what fender prices are. I'd never get a new gibson, I'd buy a Tokai instead!!! or another excellent copy. I've always loved flying V's and I always wanted to get one, but the prices are a joke at Gibson. How they stay in business is, well I dunno, astonishing, epiphones are no where near as good as they should be and there are better copies out there IMO. I saw a Vintage new flying V, for like £300 so that like $500. Why would you shell out the extra cash for a gibson? The Vintage sounds excellent and I nearly bought one, only I happened to realise a had not got enough dam cash in the first place!!! very bottom of this page, check it out www.jhs.co.uk/vintageelectric.html
