The thing I love about my Si fuzz pedal is how the sound cleans up when I back-off my guitar's volume. I've been enjoying this with my strat and lp.
Much to my surprise, I couldn't do the same with my H-H tele (1-vol, 1-tone) which was wired 50's style by a buddy who does excellent tech work. The guitar retains clarity and presence when I back down on the volume, but the tone knob is not too effective unless vol is at max.
I've asked my buddy to scrap the 50's wiring and to put in concentric pots so the tele's knobs will behave like an lp. I look forward to finding out whether going back to modern wiring will clean up with the vol. pot as well.
Still, was this something to be expected from using 50's wiring with fuzz? If I want to use a fuzz pedal, must my guitar be wired modern-style?
Thanks!
Jaime
