Anecdotes have a very particular value. As stratotarts mentioned, there's more wonder in the world than anyone has time to explore, so we have to "triage", and use guiding principles as to where we should look first. Anecdotes can help a person decide which rock they should look under, they don't constitute conclusions. For example, anecdotally, I think a single coil and and humbucker with similar RLC values nevertheless sound very different, I think I shall explore under that rock. And if all goes according to plan, what I turn up will not be limited to mere anecdote.
Most forums on the internet treat facts and anecdotes interchangeably, but the mission statement of this forum precludes that practice.
