Has anyone ever tried installing some kind of freaky Ebow into the body of a guitar under the strings? It would be so wierd and wonderful. Anyone? Richie x

Oops, sorry, I thought that it said elbow guitar.
A doctor once told me that the smallest thing that one should use to pick their nose was their elbow, oh, never mind......

Now that sustainiac is quite cool! Is it jus like any other sustainer? Ive not tried one.. an what about these ebows I heard thy can make your guitar sound like other instruments such as a flute =-S! I've been itching to get one but for my budget i just cant afford one You cant go wrong with good old fashioned sustain, i love trying to get the right pitch waving my guitar about holding it upside down turning around and waving it at the amp.. tis good fun! If someone watches me through the window they must think im insane ;D -Guitar Doode

Now that sustainiac is quite cool! Indeed. Is it jus like any other sustainer? Ive not tried one.. No, quite the opposite. It is absolutely NOTHING like any other sustainer, and that's the advantage of it. It is a true sustainer. A true Mag-Drive Sustainer is the only effect that works onboard a guitar. Most other "sustain effects" are, in fact, compression pedals that draw out the signal a bit longer, giving more "sustain". The Sustainiac, otoh, will make the guitar sustain indefinitely (for the life of the battery, in all practicality). That's why it can't be done as a pedal. You are directly manipulating the strings magnetically. It requires having an onboard driver. Fortunately, the Sustainiac is very clean and unintrusive. In fact, the Stealth Plus also works as a pickup when not in sustain mode, so that can work for you as well. an what about these ebows I heard thy can make your guitar sound like other instruments such as a flute =-S! I've been itching to get one but for my budget i just cant afford one Yes and no. It doesn't make your guitar sound like a flute. It makes it sound like a guitar with an ebow nearby. Now, that said, the ethereal, haunting effects of an ebow can be very evocative of a flute, cello, and so on, much like what Brian May was able to do with his picking technique and a simple phase inverting toggle switch. Now, all that said, an ebow is nothing more than a one string sustainer that you hold in your hand. They're quite handy (no pun intended) and great to work with, but I'd opt for the Sustainiac first. After a bit you can learn how to use that just like an ebow. Now, if you still want to use an ebow, you can use an ebow on a guitar equipped with a Sustainiac, so it's all good. In fact, I'll probably be doing that myself. But go with the Sustainiac first. It will lend bigger payoffs. You cant go wrong with good old fashioned sustain, i love trying to get the right pitch waving my guitar about holding it upside down turning around and waving it at the amp.. tis good fun! If someone watches me through the window they must think im insane ;D Indeed, and most amusing. With the Sustainiac, you can get dependable feedback everytime. Remember, that good ol' fasioned sustain is great, as long as the room acoustics are working for you. If you hit a sweet spot, you're channeling Randy Rhoads. If you hit a node, you're dead in the water. No wind in your sails. More later. Chesh
