Hello all. I'm looking to get a little help with my guitar, its driving me insane.
I performed the quieting the beast mod, and thought I had major success when i plugged my guitar in and it was silent, i played gleefully for a few minutes, then realized my tone knobs(s/s/s vtt) were defunct.
I dont recall the exact problem, but I tried rewiring it multiple times, figuring it was something to do with the capacitor on the tone knobs(capacitor ran from middle tone left side to neck tone right side, but even tried it the other way), slight variations would give me one of a few possible results:
1) middle tone would work, but neck tone would not work and when it was rolled off, the volume of the neck pickup was cut completely 2)Neck control AND bridge control would control the middle pickup when both neck and middle were selected 3)Tone controls wouldnt alter tone until rolled completely, but the drop in volume was significant.
I've spent hours with this thing, i even took a tone circuit out of another guitar and dropped it in, and changed PU selectors. So im pretty sure its not faulty parts. I'm not 100% sure what to do with the capacitor in the QTB mod but i did enough variations today to think that itll never be fixed.
I guess what I am asking for is an exact description of what the tone circuit should look like after this mod. A diagram would be extremely nice, but any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

How about posting a pic of what you wired?

I think 2 is the way it's supposed to work, isn't it?. Standard strat wiring doesn't actually have independent tones, rather two master tones which get switched with the pickups.

Wasnt thinking really with that, i forgot to put that in addition to that the neck only position the neck tone control wouldnt severely cut the volume when rolled off, and do nothing in between

I appreciate the help and realize this is kind of pointless without more details and pics. So ive decided to just rig up a master tone, hopefully that will work and then ill at least have a working tone knob and be able to verify my capacitor at least works. Again, I appreciate the help.
