cc, That doesn't look too shabby at all! ;D I get the feeling that in the second-to-last picture, there is a whitish slash that appears to be a routed-out channel for the pickup wires - is that true?? Jeez man, if you had told us earlier that your axe has a vibrato on it, then we could have said, simply drill two holes, one from the spring cavity up into the new pickup hole, and the other from the spring cavity into the control area. Ah, the joys of retro-fitting components, brings back memories, it does. sumgai

thanks chrisK, sumgai!
sumgai... you're right it would have been possible to drill a hole from the new pickup hole to the spring cavity.
I guess I felt unconfortable drilling between cavities because I didnt feel confident I could get the angle right to do a hole that would contact both cavities for sure, without disassembling the vibrato and possibly breaking it !! Probably that was a fear fueled by the doubltful uncertainty of doing this for the first time...
Next time I'll do it that way !!!

FWIW,
The guitarfetish.com Jazz neck mount pickups have the wrong thickness info on their site.
The fat unit is 5/8" thick (15.9 mm).
The thin unit is 5/16" thick (7.9 mm).
