Newey, I'd rather be on the state side of a criminal case. That way I'd have the police and what not on my side. But it looks like in Wisconsin I will still not be getting paid. Cynical, you don't happen to be from WI, do you? I noticed your sig and became a tad curious.
As for the amp, thanks for the luck everyone.
EDIT: My roommate jammed out for a bit just to give it a test drive. I had it in low power mode first. The tube in the picture above that is brighter, was now dimmer. I popped it into high power just to see if the low power was why but one was still much much brighter than the other. Also in low power mode, after at least 5 minutes, there is a loud hum. Light strumming covers it up, but it is otherwise very pronounced.

are the plates glowing red/orange? if so it's likely that one of the grid resistors is bad (at least that was the case on my jcm2000 dsl. ymmv)

Yeah, both of the plates are glowing. Talked to the amp tech about it. Since I bought it from them and what not he is fixing it for free.
Thanks again everyone for the advice and what not. vF

I'm from Chicago originally...but for now I'm living in WI...zip code EIEIO.
But the odds seem to be stacking up on the side of civilization and it's shaking out like the big city will be getting me back...
It's kind of ironic that that signature is more telling now based on current events up here. But, this is the State that gave the world Joe McCarthy, so what can you expect...

...Looking forward to the pictures... AFAIK if the plates aren't glowing you should be okay... I'd like to see pix with tubes one way and then swapped. Also check to see (feel) if output xfmr is too hot.
Glad to hear seller is doing repair! cheers

Quick update for everyone who is still tuning in. The amp tech at Cream City called me, some capacitors and resistors had blown/shorted. He replaced those, retubed it and it was still running cold. So he dropped in 6L6's and now its purring. Not my ideal solution, but what works works. I kinda wish it was the EL34 model, but I'll give it a whirl and I'm sure it will still suit my needs.

it can be made into an el34 version with a few resistor tweaks

Yeah I am aware of the easy modding. But honestly, I thought sounded good with blown capacitors and underpowered tubes. With the 6L6's it sounds great. I am not too worried about switching between the two. The 6L6's work, they sound good and I have had my amp running on idle for 20 minutes now... no hum!

It's always nice to hear of a shop/tech standing behind what they sold you. We have one shop in town that wold do the same....
And the main amp tech in town will do the same too.
The first time I met him, I took him an amp w/ a blown power transformer, and told him that I was in the studio in two days so I will pay to get it rushed..... The part took too long to come in, so he let me take his hand made prototype amp to the studio w/ me....
