I’ll make a video and walk thru the tones That's usually a request we make of the member, once things have gotten pretty close to the 'comfort zone'. Glad to see a volunteer step forward!

Never tried that specific component, but I have a couple of guitars that do “broadbucker” tones, which is what we’ve called that thing where one coil in the series stack is bypassed by a capacitor. It certainly is a different sort of sound, but honestly I don’t use it all that often because it just sounds weird to me.

thanks for the series parallel info. As you can tell I know the sound I'm after and I have superswitch so I believe I have lots of options. so for the bridge humbucker + neck single coil tone I'm going for 80% humbucker, 20% SC. I am hearing a crunchy mid-rangey bridge humbucker but with a more open SC sound. This tone strikes as very versatile. If I could have a single dial that allowed by to go from 100 HB/0 SC to 100% SC / 0 HB I would think I'd be on to something... Took your advice and got the Megaswitch M. I found this diag on Shaller's site for for Humbucker > Single Coil in Series Here's my updated diagram based on the Schaller HS5 Humbucker / single Coil in series version (scroll down their page to HS5) Questions: - I don't see how the single coil is grounded?
- Not clear to me how their scheme works but I am trusting they are smarter than me...
Any feedback appreciated

Update on the Tele with Q-Filter build. - Completed wiring - see the pic below - My friend did an amazing soldering job - the M switch has tiny leads
- Played the tele- super quiet, sounded great. for about 1/2 an hour...
- when putting the faceplate back on the SC pickup ground wire came off. The guitar had no output.
- The following week we re-soldered the wire to the single coil and then the tele became noisy. Ground problems all over the place
- The Bill Lawrence "noiseless" pickup is full of static as is the L500L humbucker.
- We then de-soldered most everything to isolate where the noise was coming from and had to call it a day.
- I'm thinking there is an issue with the copper tape, and grounding wires I'm using.
If there is a good thread on isolating and debugging noise issues I'd appreciate it.
Hoping to make the video asap that shows off what this thing can do.

I'm thinking there is an issue with the copper tape, and grounding wires I'm using Probably good thinking. That cavity looks pretty tight in there. You might try a layer of electrical tape over the copper shielding, in case something is making contact when you button up the control cavity. The fact that you had no output at all when only the neck pickup wire came loose suggests that there is/was more than just one problem going on there.

Good idea on the electrical tape. one issue though we get the noise when everything is pulled out lying on top of the body.
My friend had an interesting theory. maybe its the fluorescent light on the same circuit as the amp I was using....
This seems to make more sense to me than a silent guitar all of a sudden getting noisy without any change in wiring/hardware.
will do a test on another outlet this weekend and hopefully button this thing up.
--- thanks again for the help!

Yes, definitely try it on a different circuit- not just another outlet on the same circuit as the flourescent lamp, but a separate circuit on a different breaker.

Back from the dead.
Have been playing the heck of of the Warmoth Tele and its the most playable guitar I've ever picked up... the tones need some love tho
1. The Lawrence L500L has a great crunch tone in its HB only position 2. The Lawrence 280L SC is super sweet in its SC only position
the other tones not so much. They get thin and one guy told me I may have the wiring out of phase.
We wired up the mega-e switch according to the specs from Lawrence but will see if the pickups got wired backwards. Not likely but will try.
Regardless of how our wire swap goes I'll post the tones and hope to blend the two pickups in a more complimentary way.
thanks for all the help!

one guy told me I may have the wiring out of phase Before you start de-soldering and re-wiring, you can test to see if the two pickups are wired out of phase, using the "screwdriver pull-off test"

Finally have a YouTube Video Demo that shows a bit of what the DIY Tele can do. Was not able to make this video sooner because the neck single coil was originally wired out of phase. So the tones that combined the single coil and humbucker were flat. All fixed Now thanks to my friend Doug. Here's what I did: - Recorded the audio through my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4
- Used a single Scuffham S-Gear preset for all the tones to show how the pickups and tone selector interact
- First Sound uses the Bill Lawrence Q-Filter fully engaged
- Will make another video that demos all 5 of the selector options.
If anyone is interested I will post Doug's images of the pickup selector soldering work and the final as-built wiring diagram
Thanks much for the help in finishing this guitar that I love playing.
