Since the building we've been in for decades is converting the first 11 floors to apartments, we moved up six floors back in May. So I now have a much better view of the ships coming and going. This morning, three in port and another one on its way in . . .

This is so peaceful. Two years ago I helped my friend sail his boat around the large island I live on, which is a bit bigger than Delaware. I loved it. Seafaring is very calming.

I bought a little spotting scope to try to see the names and flags of the various ships coming and going. But the one I got isn't powerful enough, so I need to spend a bit more to get a better one.
Today, there are ropes hanging outside my window for the scaffold on which the window washers are working a few floors down below me. Being on a scaffold 15 floors up? That's not calming or peaceful at all!
People who live on the ocean, in NY or Cali, are often surprised when they first see one of the Great Lakes- "You can't see across it!" Well, it's about 65 kilometers across to Canada, so no . . .
