Hey Everyone, My first post here, and I was wondering if I could get a second opinion on a wiring diagram I've come up with. I have a player series jaguar that I'd like to modify to have a p-rails pickup in the bridge (Player series is HS) and wanted to have one on/on switch to switch it between series/parallel, and then an on/on/on switch (switchcraft 3 way switch) to control between the rails, humbucking, and P90 options. I've attached a wiring diagram that's color coded so that blue is my ground and black is my hot lead. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions on what I can change to get this working! Thanks!

acrodobe, First, hi, and to The NutzHouse! Your idea has merit, and for sure it's been done here before, so the next question I have for you will be a forehead slapper..... in your desire for series and parallel selections on the P-Rails, you need to decide on whether the s/p selection overrides the other two positions, or is it active only when in the 'both' position? Normally, it's easiest to connect the two coils together in parallel. Switching to series means some wiring gymnastics, but it turns out that we can go either way - the switch selects 'series' only when in the middle position, or it can select series in all three positions. That last is usually called "series override", because the two 'single' positions are no longer single - all three positions now have both coils in series. The reason for the difference is only in user desire - in other words, how you switch between tones (pickup selections) while playing your tunes. Answer, that, and we can then propel you along the way to achieving that Mojo Tone®. HTH sumgai

I second all of the above. I don't know if you had considered this, but SD's "Triple Shot" pickup rings are tailor made for the P-rails. Two small slide switches give you eithe rhe rail or the P90 coil by itself, or combined both in series or both in parallel. No body mods needed to mount them, either. The downside is the switches are tiny, not great for switching mid-tune. And of course there's the cost. But I thought you might want to consider that option.

Hey sumgai, Thank you! Great to be here:) It'd be preferable to have the series/parallel only active in the 'both' position on the 3 way slider, but I'm open to other options. It'd be nice to keep the option of the other 2 remaining in parallel and just switching between that coil being 'on' and 'off' but I can remember to keep that 2 way slider in parallel for when I want single coil voicings on the P-Rails. Either way I'm open to and expecting some wiring gymnastics, just the nature of offsets Thanks for the response!
